Budget Ireland rental terms Terms and Conditions - REPUBLIC OF IRELAND
Driving Licence
Drivers must produce a full valid unendorsed driving licence at the commencement of rental that he/she has held for at least two years. Customers with a new Photocard Driver's Licence must produce both the Photocard and its paper counterpart. Visitors from overseas must produce a driving licence issued in their country of permanent residence, along with a translation into English (where appropriate). Only the renter or drivers approved by Budget are permitted to drive the vehicle.
Age Limits
The minimum age limit for drivers is 23 years. A fee of EUR € 10 per day will apply to drivers under the age of 25 years. To rent a People Carrier (Group 10) the minimum age limit is 27. To rent a Minibus (Group 9), a 4x4 (Group 11) or a Luxury Car (Group 12) the minimum age limit is 30. Minimum age restrictions may be reduced where renters provide their own fully comprehensive insurance cover, by prior arrangement only!
Payment
Budget Car Rental accepts Budget Charge Cards, and all major Credit Cards but not Debit Cards. Card holders must be present at time of pickup.
Rates
Budget Car Rental reserves the right to amend price structures without notice. Prices quoted at time of reservation however are guaranteed. Internet rates cannot be used in conjunction with any offline offers.
Rental Extension
Customers wishing to extend their rental may contact our reservations department at reservations@budget.ie or +353 (0) 90 6627711 to confirm availability. Extra days will be charged based on the local rate at the time the extension is made.
Fuel
For your convenience your car will be supplied with a full tank of fuel which you will be asked to pay for when picking up the car. If you return the car full you will be refunded the cost of the fuel.
Cancellations, Amendments and No-Shows
If you need to cancel your car rental, please contact us at reservations@budget.ie or call our reservations department at +353 (0) 90 66 27711. If you cancel 48 hours prior to your pickup time there will be no charge. Cancellation after this time or if you do not pick up the car will incur a fee of € 30 inc. VAT . There is no charge for making booking amendments.
Availability
Vehicle models illustrated on this site are for guidance only. Whilst every effort is made to ensure that a vehicle from the group reserved is available, Budget reserve the right to substitute an alternative similar model.
GPS / Satellite Navigation Systems
Garmin GPS Satellite Navigation Systems can be booked at step 3 of the online booking process at a rate of EUR € 13.22 per day + VAT at 13.5%. This charge will be included in your total quotation.
Child Seats / Booster Seats
Child Seats (1-4 years) and Booster Seats (5-12 years) can be booked at step 3 of the online booking process at a rate of
EUR € 40 per rental + VAT at 13.5%. This charge will be included in your total quotation. Parents of children younger than 12 months are recommended to bring their own infant seat.
Additional Driver
Additional drivers can be added when picking up the car for EUR € 7 per driver per day + VAT at 13.5%
Insurance
The following insurances are included in your quotation:
* Third Party Insurance: - covers against damage or injury to a third party.
* Theft Protection: - covers against losses arising out of theft or attempted theft of the vehicle.
* Collision Damage Waiver (CDW): - this cover reduces your financial liability for damage caused to the vehicle from the full value of the vehicle to the value of the excess.
The excess is:
EUR € 1100 for car groups 1-6
EUR € 1800 for car groups 7-10
EUR € 2000 for car groups 11-12
....for complete "Peace of Mind" this excess can be reduced to zero by taking out the optional Excess Waiver...see below.
The following optional insurance may be purchased at the time of rental.
* Excess Waiver:- The standard Collision Damage Waiver Excess and Theft Protection Excess are reduced to zero thus eliminating any financial responsibility in the event of loss or damage to the rental vehicle (excluding tyres). Budget reserve the right to charge a deposit equal to the excess if the renter declines the Excess Waiver. The Excess Waiver provides complete "Peace of Mind" cover.
Excess Waiver costs:
EUR € 12.50 per day + VAT at 13.5% for car groups 1-6
EUR € 16 per day + VAT at 13.5% for car groups 7-10
EUR € 19 per day + VAT at 13.5% for car groups 11-12
* Personal Accident / Personal Effects Insurance :- This optional insurance can be purchased for EUR € 8 per day and provides extensive benefits in case of injury / death.
Declining Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) / Theft Protection
You may only decline CDW/Theft Protection where you have arranged CDW/Theft Protection cover yourself (certain Gold/Platinum cards allow this). An administration fee of EUR € 25 + VAT at 13.5% will apply for the use of this option. A deposit of EUR € 2000 will be required on pickup for damages. It is the responsibility of the renter to ensure that the credit card insurance is adequate to cover any loss/damage to the vehicle. Otherwise, the renter must assume full financial responsibility.
One way rentals
One way rentals to/from Galway Airport, Galway City, Kerry Airport, Killarney and Knock Airport will incur a fee of EUR € 25.00 per rental + VAT at 13.5%.
Airport Surcharge
In common with many car rental companies a standard airport surcharge of EUR € 28.00 will apply to your rental when picking up from an airport location.
City Centre Location Surcharge
A City Centre Location Surcharge of EUR € 28.00 only applies to rentals picking up from Dublin City Centre and Galway City Centre.
Barrier Free Tolling on the M50 motorway
It is the renters responsibility to ensure all due tolls are paid within the correct time frame. More information about barrier free tolling is available here.
Unlimited Mileage
Budget have no mileage restrictions.

Insurance

A City Centre Location Surcharge of GBP £23.50 only applies to rentals picking up from Belfast City Centre.
Unlimited Mileage
Budget have no mileage restrictions.

While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.
Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice.
If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.

Vehicle capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.
